Rabat- Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Taner Yildiz has allegedly denied reports that accused Turkey of buying the smuggled Kurdish oil, from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), known also as ISIL.

Less than two weeks ago, CNN reported that the ISIS smuggles the Kurdish oil from the marginal fields it controls in northern Iraq, and sells it in the black market in southern Turkey.

Experts say that the Islamic State produces 70,000 barrels daily from the fields it controls in Iraq. ISIS reportedly trade the smuggled oil to Turkey for cash and refined products.

But Turkey’s Taner Yildiz denied these reports, stressing that Turkey did not buy any quantity of oil controlled by the ISIS.

Kurdish News Agency quoted the Turkish official as saying that “Turkey is a right-oriented country and respects all legal deals in energy affairs.”

In a press conference, Yildiz went on to describe the accusations as" an attempt to strike the energy sector in Turkey, and tarnish the image of the Government of justice and development."
