Casablanca - Custom officers in Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport have recently averted an attempt to smuggle $160,000 in two separate operations.
Sources from Mohammed V Airport said that two citizens from Hong Kong had attempted to smuggle $78,000 in the first operation that was averted by Custom officers on Thursday. The arrested smugglers were reportedly heading to Guinea.
On Friday, a German citizen, custom officers arrested a German citizen who was trying to smuggle $82,000 as he was preparing to board a Paris-bound flight.
According to the same sources, the individuals were immediately inspected thoroughly as soon as the airport’s custom officers suspected their behavior.
The sums of money they were trying to smuggle were carefully hidden in their travel luggage.
