Rabat- Chelsea manager Portuguese Jose Morinho has revealed that team’s forward Fernando Torres will be ruled out for a few weeks because of a knee injury against Manchester United.
The Spanish striker suffered lateral ligament after he replaced Samuel Eto’o in the 3-1 victory over Moyes’ Manchester United at the Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
“At the moment we lose Fernando for a few weeks, he has a problem with his lateral ligament. For a few weeks now we will have Demba and Samuel and hope they can do the job for us,” The Chelsea manager told Sky Sports.
Torres’ injury will leave the special one with just Eto’o and Demba Ba in the forward line. However, Eto’o outstanding hat-trick and performance against the red devils will be of a great help for the Portuguese in the next EPL clashes.
The Cameroon international scored his two first goals in the first half and completed an amazing hat-trick right after the break while Mexican Javier Hernandez scored United’s only goal.
This victory saw Morinho celebrating the landmark of winning 100 Premiere League games faster than any other manager.
The Portuguese said that what is important is to secure three points in the race for the Premiere League title and to bridge the gap between his team and the top leaders.
“More important than anything is the three points. Of course it’s nice (100 Premiere League Win), it’s obviously one more fantastic thing for my career, but most important is to win a difficult match,” he added.
“Overall we deserve the three points and they are three important points, because it opens a gap between us and Manchester United and Liverpool. We also close the gap on Arsenal and (Manchester) City.”
