Rabat- The court of appeal of Casablanca on Saturday gave its verdict on the case of a drug-trafficking network in Nador, which involved several law enforcement officers.
According to the Moroccan daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribiya in its edition of Monday, January 20, the court of the Moroccan economic capital sentenced two police officers , two gendarmes , members of the Royal Navy and auxiliary forces, including a colonel, to prison in this case involving 92 people accused of drug-trafficking alongside the main suspect, M'hammed Lghani , aka " Cherif " .
According to the same source, Cherif, the main suspect in the case who was arrested in 2009, was sentenced to 9 years in prison and a fine of MAD 90,000 ($12,000).
This network of drug-trafficking, which was uncovered in 2009, involved control agents who allowed traffickers to move drugs from Nador to the Ketama region.
According to the same source, the court of appeal sentenced to imprisonment 22 persons who had been acquitted by the court of first instance. Among those sentenced, eight are elements of the auxiliary forces, in addition to a colonel.
In addition, 11 defendants saw their sentences reduced to one year in prison after they had been sentenced to between 4 and 10 years.
According to the same source, the ruling of the court of appeal was completely differently from that of the court of first instance.
