Rabat - The Galatz (Army radio) announced the death of the former prime minister Ariel Sharon following an eight-year coma.
The former Israeli prime minister Sharon was a national hero to his fellow Israelis while many people over the globe, along with Arabs, considered him a "criminal" and an "assassin."
Arabs did not hesitate to baptize him "the Slaughterer of Beirut" after the Israelis attack on Lebanon which caused the death of thousands of innocent civilians in the infamous Sabra and shatila massacre in 1982.
Sharon suffered a massive stroke on January 4, 2006, slipping into a coma from which he has never recovered.
Sharon is known for having sparked the second Palestinian “Intifada” (uprising) after he walked through east Al-Aqsa mosque compound on September 28, 2000.
