Casablanca- Pictures of affluent Gulf citizens riding their deluxe cars down some European avenues have swept the internet, stirring versatile reactions to them.
A number of luxurious cars, driven by Middle Eastern students, have ostensibly conquered some of Europe’s streets, stealing the spotlight from all the less luxurious cars driven by European citizens.
In a number of pictures still going viral on major social networks, Fabulous Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Rolls Royces roamed European avenues carrying mostly young students from Saudi Arabia who are said to pursue their studies in Europe.
The pictures stirred both disapproving and supportive reactions on social networks, thus creating two opposed camps of people.
There are those who see in the Middle Eastern students’ captivating cars an illustration of an exaggeratedly lavish style of life that backs up the stereotypical image foreigners have of Middle Easterners.
This first camp found fault with the fact that the owners of these luxurious cars are students who are supposed to concentrate more on their studies there in Europe.
Some reactions deemed such behavior insolent lavishness, and a waste of other young Middle Eastern students’ lifetime opportunity to study abroad.
Other reactions, on the other hand, saw in the picture an illustration of a basic right to “live your life the way you please.” This camp argues that the young students have the right to spend their money the way they like, since it is “their money,” and as long as they abide by the rules of the host European countries.
