"Striving to be better, oft we mar what is well." William Shakespeare (1564-1616)

Inchoative thoughts,

A soupcon of barbaric parlance,

Fiery issues at hand,

Miscreant people

Vying for domination,

Edacious appetites,

Tautological language,

Empty promises

For spurious futures,

Fatuous pronouncements

Here, there and everywhere.

Migraine,

And yet more powerful migraine,

Thousands of mountebanks

Beguiling sedated audiences

With tales of dragons and miracles

To come true,

Maybe today,

Maybe tomorrow.

Never mind

When they will occur, anyway.

Meanwhile,

There is more decay,

More decadence,

More degeneracy,

In the name of freedom and democracy.

Gelid wind blowing endlessly

Titillating what is left

Of human pride,

Human integrity and human humanity.

Love has passed away

Long ago,

What is left for men

Is a tedious banality

Of sex-appeal

And domination,

Of flashy toned bodies,

And much base lust:

A real platitude and triviality.

Love is no more but

A nefarious subterfuge

And a lackadaisical venture.

A form of relentless

Persecution of the senses.

Love today,

Is approached with much trepidation

One feels

When nearing a haunted mansion.

Love is expressed no more

With candlelight dinners,

With fine wine,

Soft music,

And what the mood allows.

Love is no more

The blight young couple

Pleasant sight to see.

Love is going global,

And becoming casual.

Love is a peccant affair,

No more, no less…

Going global,

Going subliminal,

Scamming,

Spamming,

Stunning,

Numbing,

Whatever senses are left intact

By disreputable consumerism.

Plastic smiles

Say that everything is copacetic.

They are for insentient objects,

They have no smidgeon

Of warmth, nor humanity in them.

They augur

A peculiar environment

Of phantasmagorical imagery

And incongruous juxtapositions,

Of melting clocks

And unreal landscapes.

Nothing to do with

The insightful world of Salvador Dali

Is global ephemeral?

Or pellucid and translucent?

Or is it a myriad of phantasms à la Picasso?

What is its demarche?

Maybe global

Is synonymous of global wanton

And global deprivation,

At the same time,

Each his own.

Maybe the true curvature

Of whimsical humanity,

Its true nature,

Beyond any embellishment whatsoever.

Humans divide into two species:

The haves

And the haves not.

Do not flummox yourself

With other recherché explanations.

Global:

Genteel manners and appearances,

But

Total discomfort,

Total jeopardy.

A true ogre

Bent

On terminating life

On the verdant slopes

Of Edgar Allan Poe.

Going global,

Going globalicious,

Going bust…thank you very much.

Going global,

Going indifferent:

The bellboy waited expectantly,

But no pourboire was forthcoming.
