Rabat - Casablanca is ranked among the most popular destinations in the Middle East and Africa region (MEA), according to a new study.
MasterCard on Wednesday released its annual travel study, the Global Destination Cities Index, ranking 132 destination cities around the world in terms of total international overnight visitor arrivals and cross-border spending.
According to the study, Casablanca is projected to receive 970,000 visitors in 2015, a slight increase in comparison to the last four years. Visitors of Casablanca are expected to spend an estimated $600,000.
In MEA, Dubai continues to retain its top rank for international overnight visitors. The Emirati city is expected to receive almost 14.3 million international visitors. Other top cities in the region include Johannesburg (4.4 million), Riyadh (4.27 million), Abu Dhabi (2.7 million) and Cape Town (1.96 million).
London came first in the study for the second year in a row. The city will welcome 18.82 million overnight visitors in 2015. It is followed by Bangkok and Paris.
