Rabat - A Royal Air Maroc Dreamliner from New York came within seconds of disaster over the Atlantic Ocean after it began to descend too quickly on Thursday at around 7.50 pm Eastern Time.
RAM flight number AT 201 was en route to Mohammed V International Airport From JFK International Airport and had just taken off about 15 minutes earlier when all of a sudden it started a free fall of about 500 meters while it was trying to gain altitude.
According to a passenger who was inside the aircraft, people started screaming and everybody thought a plane crash was going to happen.
Miraculously, however, everyone aboard is still alive, thanks to an incredible job by the pilot, who eventually managed to stabilze the airplane .
Morocco World News could not verify the causes of the free fall.
Throughout the remainder of the flight, passengers were holding their breath and praying at any zone of turbulence, an eyewitness told Morocco World News.
Crew members downplayed what happened and reassured passengers that the pilot managed to control the plane and restored things to normal.
Eyewitnesses said that passengers feared another plane crash was going to happen after that of the Germanwings aircraft that crashed into the French Alpes and claimed the lives of 150 people.
