Mohamed El Ouafa, Most Famous Moroccan Minister

Rabat- Mohamed El Ouafa, Minister of General Affairs and Governance, is the most famous member of Benkirane’s cabinet, a new opinion poll has found.

The poll, conducted by Averty Market Research & Intelligence in partnership with independent citizen’s network Tizi, found that Mohamed El Ouafa enjoys an 80 percent approval rating among voters.

He is followed by Communication Minister Mustapha El Khalfi (76%), Transport and Logistics Minister Aziz Rabbah (75%), Health Minister Lhoucine Louardi (75%) and Nabil Ben Abdellah Minister of Housing and Urbanism (74%).

The poll has also revealed the names of the other ministers in Benkirane’s cabinet who are most appreciated by their fellow Moroccans. Aziz Akhannouch, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries scored the highest with 7.2 out of 10.

He is followed by Health Minister Lhoucine Louardi with a score of 6.8 out of 10, Mbarka Bouaida, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation 6.7 out of 10, Justice Minister Mustapha Ramid 6.3 out of 10 and Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and the Digital Economy with a score of 6.2 out of 10.

As for the less trusted Ministers, Mohand Laensar, Minister of Urbanism scored 4.2 out of 10, followed by Mohamed Abbou, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and the Digital economy (3.8 out of 10), Anis Birou, Minister of Expatriates and Migration Affairs (3.8 out of 10), Mohamed Moubdii, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, for civil service and Modernization of Public and administration (3.5 out of 10), and Abdeladim Guerrouj, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executive Training (3.2 out of 10).

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Mohamed Ouzzine was the less trusted among voters, with a score of only 2.4 out of 10. He was suspended from his duties and later resigned in the wake of the Moulay Abdellah Stadium fiasco during the FIFA Club World Cup 2014.

The Tizi/Averty poll used a sample of 1,086 respondents who were surveyed online between January and February, 2015 in 39 Moroccan cities.
