Rabat - When it comes to ISIS, the fatal mistake many make is trying to find reason or explanation of its violence or even consistency in its actions. There is no sense to be made of their thoughts, logic, culture, morals, values, feelings, emotions, or the human perspective. Out of their framework of reference, they have created their history as latent violence, destruction, and revenge upon civilization, along with denial, illusions, and rejection of normal society.
Seeking to understand ISIS will fail because nothing can be found to understand. It is neither a revolution nor a counter-revolutionary nature. It is not about religion, philosophy, politics or psychology. It is all about the denial of everything human and arguably, a regression to pre-humanity.
Their society is a fraud based upon perverted characters, abusively mystified exemplars, distorted symbols, adulterated narratives, misrelated events, false stories, decontextualized facts, meanings extirpated to de-conceptualized words, imaginary prowess, empty promises, tyrannical warnings, and cataclysmic commandments. It is a history staged and implanted in confiscated memories, hollowed souls, infertile imaginations and sick feeble minds.
Neither religion nor mankind should promote, much less tolerate destroying the signs of ancient civilizations, burning books and libraries, persecuting poets, hanging philosophers, crucifying artists, and ransacking museums. But ISIS, in the name of religion, defaces works of ancient art with jackhammers, bullies scholars, and tries to banish sociology, philosophy, psychology and art from schools and universities. Worst of all, it appears joyous about burning prisoners of war alive, cutting heads and limbs, chasing people from their homes and lands, starving them, dehydrating them and poisoning them.
The evil is spreading faster than cures are being found for it. The procrastination of those who can stop ISIS, expecting perhaps that it decimates their enemies before they act, gives it time to take root, learn to attack them and take them by surprise in their very bedrooms.
It serves nothing to denounce, condemn or lament against this evil. Anything less than fighting it immediately will be meaningless. If something is not done, what we have seen is only a prelude – humanity has not seen the worst of it. It is still ahead and will not be long to come. Let no one be surprised when it strikes, forces doors and breaks in ... because it does not knock first.
