Rabat- Chairman of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Donald Kaberuka, on Wednesday praised the "satisfactory" economic performance of Morocco in recent years, despite the international crisis.
Morocco has managed to maintain "pretty respectable" growth rates in recent years that have enabled it take up the challenges of youth employment and the diversification of its economy, he said at a press conference.
Hailing the "excellent" cooperation between Morocco and AfDB translated into significant commitments in all sectors, Kaberuka recalled the diversified portfolio of the Bank in Morocco, its first client.
He particularly highlighted the support provided by AfDB to the development of solar energy, notably the Ouarzazate NOOR solar complex, deeming it the "largest solar project" initiated by the Kingdom to date.
Kaberuka also praised the strategy of the energy mix implemented by Morocco.
AfDB is Morocco's leading development partner, with investments amounting to nearly 10 billion euros and an active portfolio of 2.7 billion euro.
