Rabat- Morocco has obtained guarantees regarding the management of the Western Sahara dispute following the phone conversation between King Mohammed VI and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in January, Moroccan Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar said Thursday in Rabat.
"These guarantees are related to the UN commitment to address the Moroccan Sahara issue with neutrality, objectivity and integrity," Mezouar said at a parliamentary meeting.
"Thus, the MINURSO will continue its mission in respect of its current mandate, without any mention to another mechanism of human rights monitoring in the Sahara,” the minister added.
He also noted that the UNSG personal envoy for the Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, who will visit Morocco in the forthcoming weeks, will elaborate the annual report that will be published by the Security Council in April.
