Marrakech- According to a study conducted by the French National Medical Council (CNOM), of the 19.6 percent of French doctors born outside of France, 11.5 % are Moroccan.
Moroccan doctors in France were the second most represented nationality from the North African region, in-between first ranked Algeria at 25% and third ranked Tunisia at 7.1%.
North African doctors in France form 43.6% of total foreign doctors, divided functionally by specialization such as practitioners, psychiatrists, anesthetists, radiologists and surgeons.
The results reveal that 11.3% of Moroccan general practitioners in France graduated in Morocco while 85.9% graduated in France, with the remaining 2.8% graduating in other foreign countries.
Moroccan general practitioners are mostly male at 68% at an average age of 56 years old. 33% are aged 60 and over while only 7% are under 40.
The study also shows that Moroccan professionals represent 13.6% of foreign psychologists in France, with 30.1% holding Moroccan diplomas, 65.1% French and the remaining 4.8% from other foreign countries.
Moroccans compose 16.9% of all foreign anesthesiologists in France, with 38.7 % graduating in Morocco, 54.7% in France and the remaining 6.6% from other foreign countries. 74% of all foreign anesthesiologists are male.
Moroccan surgeons are also present in France, representing 15.5% of foreign surgeons currently practicing in France. 33.9% are graduates of Morocco, 62.2% in France and 3.9% from other countries.
The majority of Moroccan doctors practicing in France are male at 63% while 37% are women.
