Madrid - Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ignacio Ybanez Rubio, described, on Tuesday in Madrid, as "excellent" the Moroccan-Spanish political relations. "Political relations between the two governments are excellent," the Spanish official told a delegation of Moroccan journalists.
Cooperation ties are steadily developing with regular meetings and forums bringing together officials from the two countries, Ybanez Rubio said, noting that the next high-level meeting will be held soon in Madrid.
Ybanez Rubio, who dedicated his first official visit to Morocco on November 25, expressed his country’s interest in further developing ties with Morocco, notably in fields pertaining to economy, defense, justice and the fight against illegal immigration.
Morocco is an important economic market for Spanish businesses, Ybanez Rubio, recalling that Morocco is Spain’s second trading partner outside the EU.
He also voiced satisfaction with regard to Morocco’s "exemplary" relations with the EU within the framework of the neighborhood policy.
