June 28th was the opening ceremony of the 25th edition of the International Festival of University Theater of Casablanca (FITUC), at Moulay Rachid Cultural Complex in Ben M’sik, Casablanca.
Rachid El Ouali, the talented Moroccan actor and film director, is the artistic director of this year’s edition of the FITUC, which is organized by the University of Mohammedia-Casablanca and Ben M’sik Faculty of Letters and Humanities under the theme, “Rainbow: Various Theatrical Expressions and Experiences.”
Owing it to the remarkable friendship between both countries, the Moroccan festival has chosen the U.S. a guest of honor in its 25th edition. This is also due to Ben M’sik Faculty of Letters’ numerous partnerships and continuous collaboration with a significant number of American universities, educational and cultural institutions.
Other than the U.S., a number of other countries are taking part in this year’s edition of the festival, including Germany, Chile, Hungary, France, Georgia, Mexico, Venezuela, Guinea, United Arab Emirates, Algeria and Serbia.
“The FITUC is now 25 years old,” stated Mr. Abdelmjid Kadouri, Dean of the Faculty of Letters of Ben M’sik, Casablanca and FITUC president.
“Throughout all these years, the festival has experienced both glories and recessions. The festival is a school for hundreds of young Moroccan and foreign artists. It is also the artistic memory of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Ben M'Sik and the Hassan II University Mohammedia-Casablanca in particular, and of the city of Casablanca and Morocco at large,” added Mr. Kadouri in a nostalgic tone.
