Rabat- Amid ongoing efforts to deter the rising number of Jihadis in North Africa who pledged their allegiance to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria ISIS, the Moroccan Police reportedly arrested 5 Moroccan soldiers last weekend in Marrakech, in connection with their alleged communications with ISIS.
On Sunday, five soldiers reportedly were arrested and detained on investigation by the Regional Command of the Royal Gendarmerie in Marrakech. They are suspected of communicating with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria ISIS, according to the Moroccan daily Al-Akhbar newspaper.
This came only four days after the Royal Gendarmerie arrested a soldier November 4, at the military base of Ben Guerir, Marrakech, over his alleged links with ISIS via the Internet.
The suspect had been under the surveillance of the Regional Command of the Royal Gendarmerie in Marrakech, as he was taking part in a Military exercise between the British and the Moroccan militants, near Marrakech. On November 4, the soldier was caught red handed while communicating with ISIS.
According to the same source, the suspect is said to have revealed during the investigation, that five of his fellow soldiers at the military base of Ben Guerir were also involved in his communications with ISIS.
