Taliouine, Morocco - The “Arrahman” Association for Community and Cultural Work and Sovereignty, in collaboration with the International Coordination for the Moroccan Sahara Autonomy Support (CISASM), led a campaign today in Taliouine, about 190 kilometers from Agadir, to collect one million signatures in support of the support of the Autonomy Plan.

After a meeting between the region’s community activists on November 8 in Laayoun, the association went to Marrakech to visit several cities and collect one million signatures for the support of the Moroccan proposal.

Under the slogan “Together for the Application of the Autonomy Plan in the Southern Provinces”, the association led a campaign from the city of Laayoun to encourage citizens to support the application of the Autonomy Plan in the Southern Provinces, also known as "Western Sahara."

Ben Abda Zineb, the President of the association based in Laayoun, read the press communiqué in front of a large gathering of people inside the hall of the saffron festival from November 7 to 9 in Taliouine.

Ben Abda told Morocco World News, “the Autonomy initiative made by the kingdom is an appropriate effort to find a fair and just solution to put an ed to issue conflict.”

Allal Tabbach, the Secretary-General of the International Coordination for the Moroccan Sahara Autonomy Support, talked about the mission and the importance of the campaign.

Tabbach told MWN:“Once we have gathered one million signatures we will forward it to the UN,” in order to call for the urgent application of the Autonomy Plan in the southern regions of the kingdom.

The campaigners waved Moroccan flags and a large banner with a message in support of the application of the autonomy plan, as well as denouncing the violation of human rights by the Polisario leaders against Sahrawis at the “camps of shame” in Tindouf.

The banner also called upon Polisario and its backer, Algeria, to tell the 'truth' about the kidnapped and missing Sahrawi people.

On the 39th anniversary of the Green March, the king of Morocco reiterated that the autonomy plan is “the maximum that Morocco can offer in the framework of the UN-sponsored negotiations” to reach a solution to the conflict.
